Brandon offeres to Edward his living not for the purpose of the marriage to Lucy, it isn't enough to support a family, but it can help him to remain aswim until he finds something better. Elinor meets a foppish Edward's brother, Robert, and is shocked by the fact that he has no remorse toward his brother, who was deprived of a livelihood.

Sisters end their staying in London and go back to Barton and stay at a country estate of Mrs.Jennings's son-in-law Mr.Palmer in Cleveland. There Marianne, mourning the loss of Willoughby, disparages toward her health and eventually she is dangerously ill. Get knowing about it, Willoughby suddenly comes and tells Elinor that he is truly in love with Marianne. However since his aunt had deprived him of his inheritance because of his behavior toward Miss Williams, he decided to get marry the wealthy Miss Grey.

Elinor tells Marianne about his visit. Marianne avows that while she loves Willoughby, she can't be happy with a dissolute father of an illegitimate child, even if he had not left her. She also realizes that her illness was caused by her grief, exaggerated sensibility, and if she dies, it is akin to suicide. She decides to change for the better and learn from her sister to have restraint and common sense.
